Course Description

The 2024 deadline to set up a Solo 401(k) with maximum benefit for S-Corporation owners is December 31st.  Many tax advisors don’t understand the best way to optimize the perfect amount of payroll for an S-Corp owner to maximize the benefits of their 401(k) and minimize Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) contributions at the same time.

In this webinar, our presenter will teach the contribution strategy of the "Mega Back Door Roth," a strategy based on the Solo 401(k) that includes how business owners can "self-direct" their 401(k) to purchase real estate, cryptocurrencies, and other alternative assets. This strategy includes the "Roth chunking" strategy and an additional strategy that involves doing Roth conversions from within a 401(k). In this webinar, our presenter, Mark J. Kohler, CPA and Attorney, will explain 13 benefits of the Solo 401(k) and debunk many of the misconceptions of what can and cannot be done with the Solo 401(k) strategy.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the deadlines and contribution strategies for setting up the Solo 401(k)

  • List the deadlines in 2025 for 2024 tax deductions or Roth contributions

  • Evaluate the proper payroll level for S-Corp owners based on their 401(k) contribution goal

  • Recognize how a taxpayer can self-trustee and self-direct Solo 401(k) plan assets

  • Outline how to fund the "Mega Back Door Roth" strategy and complete Roth chunking inside a 401(k)

  • Evaluate the strategy of when to pay a spouse and how to fund their Solo 401(k) account
